Max Verstappen crashed out of his home grand prix on the opening lap at Zandvoort. Rain before the start had left the circuit damp in patches, and the field started on slick tyres. Running seventh through the banked final corner, normally a flat out corner, Verstappen accelerated onto what he read as a dry line and lost the car into the barrier. "It was still quite wet," he explained afterwards. "As soon as I saw the dry patch coming, I was like 'Now you can accelerate,' and clearly that didn't work. So it was a bit too early." He described the impact as "a decent hit" but climbed out unhurt. The race was red flagged for debris and barrier damage. πΈπ° via Verstappen's post race media session #F1 #MaxVerstappen #RedBull #DutchGP
